The Federal Department of Education and Training (DET)'s new Child Care Finder website was launched to replace the MyChild.gov.au website.
The Child Care Finder website will enable parents to easily search for long day care, family day care, in home care and outside school care opportunities in their area.
Those seeking childcare are able to tailor their search to cater for specific needs such as whether or not a service provides nappies, or lunch, and select opening hours which suit their needs.
Using an interactive map, parents are able to see ECEC services with and without vacancies in their area, choosing those which meet their needs. Also shown are the costs per day for services, and how services rank against one another in terms of the National Quality Framework.
The Child Care Finder can also notify parents, using push notifications to the parents’ phone, of when a vacancy at their preferred service becomes available.
Please be advised vacancies are subject to change without notice and the Child Care Finder website will be updated at periodic times throughout the month. Vacancies are also variable and may not specify details on sessions of care being offered to children and families. For example, an Educator may only be able to provide sessions of care to child/children on a part-time basis (eg. from 9am to 2pm).
Update l Effective 7 February 2022, the fees, vacancies, quality ratings and inclusions of early childhood services will be published on StartingBlocks.gov.au. This information will no longer be published on the Child Care Finder website from June 2023.
